EARTHFEST 2021
April 9, 2021 - April 11, 2021
What is the proper scope and definition of "environmentalism"? How can social definitions of sustainability and environmental activism be more inclusive? How do our individual actions and experiences factor into global fights against environmental degradation, as opposed to public policy and systems change?
Join Environmental Alliance for Earthfest to engage with Duke professors, students, experts, and activists on the central questions defining the environmental movement today. In exploring this year's theme—"Who Can Be an Environmentalist?"—we aim to tackle these questions from a range of perspectives and fields. Our speaker panels, presentations, and interactive student events will highlight diverse forms of advocacy and activism in the Duke community and beyond.
WINTER ECO-CHALLENGE
December 8, 2020 - January 19, 2021
Not sure what to do for two months over the extended winter break? Well, Environmental Alliance has got you covered. We will be holding a six-week Winter Eco-Challenge from December 8, with topics spanning from food waste and environmental justice to energy and nature. Each week, you will receive an email with a wide range of challenges, such as composting your own food, starting a garden, or watching a documentary on environmental racism. This event will be a fun and meaningful way to learn something new about the environment and the meaningful actions we can take towards sustainability.
